I have been wanting to dive head first into the magick that is engagement proposals, weddings & all things love because well, I am absolutely one of those women that loves LOVE! The declaration and celebration of it are as important as the details you capture and remember long into the seasons of love!
I was approached via Instagram by Lauren & Bethany; the powerhouse duo of House of Boemia and asked if I was available to participate in a styled wedding shoot back in November 2023; my FIRST shoot! Of course I jumped at the chance which made even more sense when I got to work with my friend & business awe-spiration Aurora who runs Aurora Photographic.
The next step was to curate the jewellery and crown collection for the theme of 'Deep Winter wedding with a sprinkle of witchy-ness'! You can just picture my teenage excitement and the squeeking sounds that I made can't you?!
Please note: Images available within Pintrest. I do not own them.
Whenever I create a crystal crown or headpiece, the first intention that always comes to mind is that it absolutely needs to bring a touch (or a bucket load) of magick! This shoot was particularly special because my interpretation of the colour palette and moodboard was that of Dark romanticism & Winter Witch. For the main crown, I played with the balance of dark in the form of Black Quartz & Tourmaline and light; a crushed Pyrite sparkle for the representation of the longer winter days. I also chose these crystals for their properties of grounding, clarity and prosperity, all lending to the Brides next chapter. I wanted to make sure she felt strong & powerful!
I paired the crown with faceted Green Amethyst & Herkimer ear threaders & matching necklace to attune the heart chakra to welcome in all forms of love & a sense of calm. I maximised ear curation with a second pair of earrings; a pair of Mother of Pearl ‘Margot’ Moon drop. To finish, and most importantly, was the engagement ring. Orange spinel is believed to emanate a very happy & joyous energy, which, let's face it, is at the core of a wedding.
